In order to render the most functional state-of-the-art site for training for the City, Port, and other high value facilities in the county and region; the Tower boasts a “live-fire training burn room” allowing practical experience in modern procedures for shipboard and structural firefighting under actual conditions which cannot be simulated. For this component, the initial purchase of the “Burn Room” was funded through the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation’s Community Fund in the amount of $30,000 in order to enhance this new, regional training facility at the Port of West Sacramento.

The 5-story Training Tower includes a Class A burn room to allow interior firefighting operations, and a number of props to provide ventilation, search and technical rescue training. The Training Tower provides the host location for training firefighters from throughout Yolo County and Northern California. The Fire Department works cooperatively with the Police Department, regional SWAT, and Bomb Squad EOD Units to provide a location to enhance all first-responder capabilities.
